The grossly unethical behavior at Murdoch’s newspapers and television network serves as evidence of what can happen when an obsession with profit and power is placed above a commitment to public service.

Geraldo Rivera has a long history of weird behavior and comments on national TV:
1) Buried treasure. Every day for weeks, advertisements hyped Geraldo’s plan to uncover a gangster’s buried treasure on live TV. When tens of millions of Americans tuned in for the big moment and a hole was poked in a basement wall, there was nothing much on the other side but dirt.
2) Drug bust. Once again on live TV, Geraldo reported when police knocked down the front door of a suspected drug dealer’s apartment. Whoops! Wrong people.
3) Bloody nose. When Geraldo invited Nazis on his live TV show, mayhem ensued and Geraldo was hit in the nose. As he attempted to restore order, the violence continued and blood poured out of his nose:
4) Line in the sand. As the war in Iraq began, Geraldo drew a line in the sand as a sort of rough map next to an American tank in Iraq and said on live TV via satellite that the troops would be heading to that location in a few minutes. Of course, the enemy left the area immediately.
5) Wipe out. While reporting on live TV during a hurricane, Geraldo fell awkwardly:
6) Hoodies. And to top off such an illustrious career as a “journalist,” Geraldo decided this week to claim, on live TV again, that Trayvon Martin was shot because he was wearing a hoodie:
More, with Geraldo’s hoodie comment on video:
7) Geraldo even falsely claimed that people could test for the coronavirus just by holding their breath for 10 seconds:
