The climate crisis intensifies hurricanes. The widespread devastation caused by Hurricane Ian is the latest example of what happens when people worldwide behave as if they can do whatever they want to nature:

There are consequences to the rape of the planet.
It does not have to be like this. We know what needs to be done to protect the environment and live in harmony with nature:

Carbon emissions must be cut in half by 2030 to avoid climate catastrophe, but that level of emissions reduction is not going to happen by that year. It is extremely naive and dishonest to claim otherwise. If we reach that target by 2040, it will not be enough because the damage will have already been done and we will have missed the opportunity. And because it takes many decades for carbon emissions to dissipate.
Then there is the fact that the planet cannot provide enough natural resources, fresh water and topsoil for the billions of additional people on the way as the world’s population increases through 2080.
Combine heavy carbon concentrations, a denuded environment and extreme overpopulation, and what we will see is a planet that will continue to heat up, droughts and fires that will intensify, devastating hurricanes that will pulverize the East Coast, glaciers and polar regions that will melt, species that will go extinct, and a world that will wither away into an unrecognizable hellscape.
The belief that we have to lie and give people false hope so that we can try harder to reduce climate change is outrageous bullshit. Tell people the truth. Things are going to get worse, but as thinking people with moral consciences we must do everything we can to reduce carbon emissions and to help those who are suffering.
