Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, schools and colleges are prohibited, without consent, from providing information from a student’s file to federal immigration agents if the information would potentially expose a student’s immigration status. If ICE agents present a school or college with a removal warrant (deportation order), the school or college is still permitted to refrain from providing student information, as the warrant is administrative, not judicial:

Riverside Community College District students can decline to release their information by going to their WebAdvisor accounts and selecting “No.” RCCD has approved a plan, however, to comply with warrants, subpoenas or court orders to reveal students’ information. But the district has stated in its new policy that it does not have to wait until it receives such a warrant, subpoena or court order to release students’ information if students have chosen to permit the district to release the information. Students are not required to authorize the release of their information, which includes their addresses and other data.
How to deauthorize the release of your information in RCC’s WebAdvisor:
https://viewpointsonline.org/2017/02/24/webadvisor-gives-students-an-option-to-release-personal-information/
Here is the policy RCCD’s Board of Trustees approved Feb. 21, 2017:
“Our colleges will remain safe and welcoming spaces for all students, regardless of their religion, national origin, gender identity, gender expression, or immigration status;
We will vigorously advocate at every level of government to protect our students and our District’s values;
We affirm that all students will have an opportunity to receive an education regardless of immigration status or other protected status;
We will continue to advocate at the local, state, and federal level for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program and for DACA students;
We will steadfastly protect student records under FERPA and will not release student information related to immigration status without a judicial warrant, subpoena, or court order, unless authorized by the student or required by process of law;
We will not enter into any agreement with federal, state or local law enforcement agencies regarding immigration matters;
We will not cooperate with any efforts to create a registry of individuals based on any protected characteristics, such as religion, national origin, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.”

Students are being advised by some immigration activists to seek DACA status soon:

Other activists, however, are advising students to not apply for DACA status because doing so turns over their families’ information to their universities. Although universities in California have vowed to protect their students’ information, Trump has threatened sanctuary cities with cutting off their federal funds if they refuse to help identify undocumented immigrants for deportation, and there is concern that he may use the same tactic against universities and colleges. The universities and colleges could then cave and turn over their students’ information to the federal government, although they may fight in the courts against Trump’s attempt to bully them into compliance:

Trump has announced his plan to deport 11 million undocumented people. The plan would target convicted criminals and suspects but also deport other undocumented people found by immigration police. The plan does not identify what will be done with DACA students:

Trump plans to deport 11 million people as quickly as possible, although doing so on such a scale would take many months and funding from Congress. Many people are to be deported without due process in what is known as “expedited removal,” without a hearing before a judge:

Confusion has spread about Trump’s travel ban, with airport police not knowing whether it applied to green card holders. Trump officials also disagreed with each other about the scope of the travel ban.
More than 100 people have been detained at airports and many have been returned to their nation of origin. Some detainees were said to have been threatened and coerced into signing agreements that they would leave “voluntarily”:

Critics of the travel ban point out that it violates the First Amendment’s freedom of religion clause by targeting Muslims while exempting Christians.
Prominent Republicans have strongly criticized Trump’s travel ban. Trump reacted to his own political party’s strong criticism of his travel ban in his usual immature way with a bizarre Twitter rant about WWIII, and he is blaming the news media for “hyperventilating” about the issue.
U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer criticized Trump’s travel ban as being “un-American.”
Judges have issued temporary blocks on Trump’s travel ban, but the temporary blocks are not being applied in all cases and Trump has said that the travel ban will remain in place:

Customs and border police are said to be defying court orders to block Trump’s travel ban and are still forcing travelers to return to their nation of origin. Instead, the police should refuse to comply with any unconstitutional order from Trump:
